The Maverick Theater in Fullerton is a great place to go if you enjoy a night out at the theater. Joseph Musil, whom works with Disney and Regal Cinemas, recreated a 1920s Cabaret Stage which more appropriately showcases musicals and lighter fare performed on the stage. which leads to the theaters main stage. The Cabaret, which leads to the main theater, has tables and a bar, which makes for a very comfortable setting and allows you to marvel at the design by Musil.
On Fridays, starting at 11:00 pm, “Improve Shmimprov” allows for audience members to get involved in the act. For a mere $5 the audience can throw out suggestions and watch as the actor/comedian turns your suggestions into something unique and entertaining. For some late-night fun, this is a great ticket, and is guaranteed to be different each and every time you see the show. Read the rest of this entry »

If your looking for a place to relax and enjoy an upscale dinner for two or with friends, then Savannah Steak & Chop House in Laguna Niguel is for you. What started out as drinks with some friends, turned into appetizers and dinner for four. The setting of Savannah’s is perfect for an evening with someone special, or a business dinner. We ended up retreating to the bar for some drinks before we met our friends, and ended up finding a nice oversized booth where we enjoyed a cocktail. While sitting there in the dimly lit room, we noticed that there was a person playing some light live music in the corner. The music wasn’t over bearing and contributed to the ambiance of a very full room. Think of the setting as southern hospitality yet trendy and elegant. Read the rest of this entry »

Newport Beach has many selections to choose from, but if your one of those people that likes the finer things in life for the right price you’ll really like 3-Thirty-3 in Newport Beach. Their motto is “Small Plates, Big Taste”, and we would say that’s just about right. It seems as though they are more interested in being a martini bar then they are a gourmet kitchen, which in our book is just fine. Their menu is designed to be “grazed” upon, which makes it perfect for an after work meeting place or a lazy afternoon cocktail. 3-Thirty-3 caters to the young professional crowd and really builds a sense of comfort and community. If it’s conversation you seek, then you’ve come to the right spot. Read the rest of this entry »

Driving around to all the local hot spots and events has taken it’s toll on our vehicles, the latest issue being throughly worn out tires. Without thinking about it we immediately went to Tucker Tire in Laguna Niguel. They have the best staff in the business and nobody can touch their prices. If they don’t have something for you in stock they will order it for you. You’ll end up paying half of what you would have paid had you done the research yourself, found the exact rim and/or tire that you wanted, then have it shipped from the four corners of the globe. Why bother? Tucker will find it and install it for you, cheaper than anyone in the area. We’ve been to Costco for Tires and even the occasional Sears, but we won’t be going to those other locations anymore, especially after our most recent visit to Tucker. Read the rest of this entry »
