Yesterday we had the pleasure of going to a birthday party at Scooter’s Jungle. This place really has it figured out when it comes to birthday parties for kids. Scooter’s Jungle is the perfect place for kids AND adults to have a little fun jumping around on HUGE inflatables, all set to a jungle theme. There is an inflatable slide, zip line (rope swing), bounce house, ping pong table, air hockey table, and little plastic cars and slides for the kids who didn’t want to go on the big stuff. Every parents dream is to take their child to a place where they can get all of their energy out and scream, and be so tired at the end of it that they have no option but to sleep. This is that place! And the best part is that the parents can have just as much fun as the adults! Trust me, they’ll want a nap as well.
The staff there was great, they had everything completely dialed in. Very friendly to all the kids and even encouraged some of the adults to get on the slide and let their inner-child out. The kids genuinely had a blast racing the adults down the slide and showing off at how fast they can go down the slide and how easy it is to hang on to a rope swing.
The birthday kid gets to sit in the birthday throne, which is this huge “Alice in Wonderland” looking chair, while the rest of the party sings to them. The staff did a wonderful job making the birthday child feel special and got smiles out of all the other kids. At the end of the party, it would be almost impossible to find a face that didn’t have a smile on it after a time like this.

In the mood for some entertainment and some good food at a resonable price? Then Yamato in Laguna Hills is the place to go, and I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. If you have ever been to a Benihana or something like that, then you already know what Yamato is like, a chef cooking your food on a hot plate right in front of you. Now I’ve been to my fair share of these types of restaurants and Yamato is very much the same as all the rest. The place is nicely decorated and the people are friendly, however, save yourself some frustration by making a reservation.
The large tables seat 8 adults very comfortably, while the smaller tables have room for 4. There is a bar that you can sit at while you wait, but seating is limited. The restaurant also has a sit down style restaurant on the other side. If you just want some sushi, you can head in that direction and avoid the wait on the teppanyaki side. With these type of places your experience is made by either the people you come with or meet at your table and your cook. Our cook was good but wasn’t there to entertain us like many of the other restaurants. If you’re looking to be amazed by how the chef uses his knives, then your going to the wrong place. If your looking for good tasting food, at reasonable prices then your on the right track. It’s worth checking out, especially if you’re in south county. Oh, and I highly recommend the large Hot Sake.
You can check them out here:

If you ready for a night out and you really want to be entertained, then check out the Irvine Improv. They have dinner shows, which are nice because the dining guests get priority seating, but must arrive 2 hours before hand. Now if you really want some laughs, go on Tuesday nights - why might you ask? Well it’s open mic night, and you really can’t be sure what your going to get on those nights. It can best be described as “The Good, The Bad & The Ugly”, but hey it’s worth the price of admission and I have yet to leave without a smile on my face.
Doors open on Wednesday at 7:00 pm, Thursday & Friday 6:30 pm, Saturday & Sunday 5:00 pm. Late Night Menu, doors open at 7:30 pm.
Where the Fun happens:

Big-O-To-Go has the best meatball sandwich Orange County has ever seen. What makes this place so unique is that it’s been in the same location for the last 20 years at least. Not only is the meatball sandwich to die for, it boasts a pretty good pizza and an incredible salad. The place is small so your not going to be eating there (hence the “to go” part of the name), so bring the family and prepare to eat in the car, because the food smells so good your gonna eat it before you get home. When they say that it’s Mission Viejo’s favorite pizza they aren’t kidding, but I’m telling you, don’t miss that meatball.

With the holidays behind us, we often find ourselves without the extra spending cash that we had at holiday time. We also seem to find a need to not sit in our homes, and venture out for something to do. Well we found a little gem of a spot to visit that will allow you to not only enjoy a not yet on DVD movie on the big screen, at a fraction of the price it would have cost you when it was a new release in a major theater. The Woodbridge Movies 5, in Irvine is a nice place to go if you just enjoy seeing a flick on the big screen. It wasn’t overly crowded, it was kid friendly, clean, and well worth the $1.50 I spent for admission.
Here are the goods that you’ll need to know about:
